The cold/flu season is upon us and these are just a few tips to help you survive the Winter/Spring months.

It is not so much the cold weather that spreads these viruses as it is the fact that we spend more time in enclosed spaces and in closer contact with each other. Plus we could be run down.

Strategies such as bed rest and plenty of warm fluids are important in managing these infections. And in this day and age, for many, bed rest is impossible what with work and the demands of children!

So what can we do then to help prevent the onslaught of a cold?

  • Get at least 7 hours of continuous sleep per night
  • Prioretise and pace yourself – things on the list can really  wait till the next day!
  • Reduce stress – Have a relaxing massage, meditate, do yoga, Tai Chi to get the nervous system  and muscles into a relaxed state.
  • Wipe door handles with alcohol  wipes, use separate cups/cutlery etc so you do not spread the viruses . Cover your mouth when you cough!
  • Keep your intestinal health healthy as it produces 70-80% of your immune system. So, use a probiotic all year round to manage a healthy immune system.
