Chronic Pain and Western Diets

Approximately 1 in 5 Australians suffer from chronic pain sometime in their life, with17% of  visits to general practice for pain relief associated with arthritis, back pain and other musculo-skeletal conditions. So how can I help this chronic pain?

For chronic pain relief I suggest, Turmeric in a herbal tablet format. Or Boswellia and Saligesic tablets. Also, to look at your diet.

The typical Western diet is very proinflammatory. That is: diets high in refined starches,(pasta, cakes, puddings),  sugar( chocolate, sweets, biscuits) and saturated and trans fatty acids,( fatty red meat, sausages, cheeses, chips, cheezels etc) and low in antioxidants( vegetables, vitamins A, C and E, and omega 3 fatty acids ( fish oils). So, substituting this with a Wellness diet can aid in reducing inflammation. Wellness diets are full of vegetables, fruit and nuts as snacks, plus lean meat or fish. Drinking 2L water per day is also  very important. I have copies of the Wellness diet .

Exercise also has the ability to reduce inflammation. Starting gently after a painful episode, then when you are improved to keep up more exercise as a habit. It provides an antioxidant effect, as well as increasing insulin sensitivity and decreasing the production of inflammatory cytokines in fatty tissue, muscles and white blood cells.
