We are already over one month into 2025 and we need to build up our immune defenses for living now and to fight off viruses or bacteria that may come our way from April/May through to October, the high season for bugs!  .We need to nourish it with the best foods plus supplements and lifestyle. We only have one immune system so we need to treat it with respect so it lasts the distance!

Symptoms of a compromised immune sytem are:

  • You suffer from high stress levels
  • You always have a cold
  • You experience lots of stomach issues
  • Your wounds are slow to heal
  • You have frequent infections
  • You always feel tired

So what can I do to boost my Immune System?

  1. Eat a balanced diet that includes 6 serves a day of fruit and vegetables
  2. Eat oily seafoods such as salmon, sardines and mackerel and red meat 2X a week.Cut out cakes, croissants and foods high in sugar .Only have one square of dark 85% or more chocolate. Use healthy oils such as olive oil for cooking and dressings. Drink 2L water a day to hydrate the bodies cells.
  3. Try and get 6-8 hours of sleep a day. 
  4. Exercise regularly - 30 mins 5X a week.
  5. Have a prebiotic and probiotic daily
  6. Add a supplement (s) that include mushroom complexes, Astragalus, zinc and olive leaf. If a cold gets a hold swap the Astragalus for Echinaceae. In fact I recommend using Echinaceae all year round as it acts as an immune system modulator, helping to prevent an acute infection or an infection causing  immune system dysregulation. 
  7. Wash your hands with soap or sanitiser regularly and dry them
  8. Take Vitamin C , a 500g or 1000g tablet a  day.

I think it is always a good idea to assess your own immunity once a month to see if your new lifestyle and supplements are helping to ward off coughs/colds, lung issues.
